Javascript in Photoshop

I been searching the web for some help and advice, and found your site. I wondered if perhaps you might be able to help me. We have some image files output from a CAD program with several solid colors. I have a user that wants to import that image file into Photoshop with it's multi-colors, have Photoshop to detect each different color and move that color to its own individual layer so that its color can then be changed and different filters and effects can be applied to those individual layers. Is this at all possible? Can you help me? Or at least direct me to someone who can?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Teresa

Well, if the output colors from the CAD program are always the same colors when output, you could just set up a simple action in Photoshop using 'select -> color range' then cutting the selection to a new layer. Repeat the color range and cut for every color that you normally have in your file and that should set you up with separated layers. Though, for this to work every file will need to consist of the same colors and those colors need to be solid (no shading/gradients).
