Will scriptographer ever work on an intel mac in CS2? I know that the current emulation of illustrator in rossetta doesn't run java... will intel macs have to wait until CS3? ... I'm sad.
There is a possible solution involving GCJ, as described here: http://www.scriptographer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=204
This would mean no JVM is needed anymore, so theoretically Rosetta could run the plugin in emulation. Unfortunatelly, a system call used in GCJ avoids it from running under Rosetta too.
But there is a little hope: http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/java/2006-05/msg00241.html
We will see if that will work or not. Unfortunatelly there seems to be noone volunteering for this change in GCJ, so I guess I will have to do it once I get my hands on an Intel machine.
As long as I have no such machine, no progress will be made here of course...
I'd love to help with the development too, but sadly lack the experience needed. Would a good donation/financial support help motivate you to spend the time on the Intel release, or are the barriers just too great?
Are we better off waiting for CS3?
